Today I am thankful for love.

This morning I woke up and instinctively picked up my phone and opened up Facebook to be hit with the news of the awful tragedy in Orlando.  As I read the news, my heart hurt.  And as the morning went on, the news just kept getting worse and worse.

It is hard for me to understand the kind of hate that drives people to commit such horrible acts.  Everywhere I go on the internet today, someone has a theory or a reason. I find myself getting pulled in but then stop.  I just can’t.  It’s just too much.

I have no reason to be connected to the events in Orlando.  No reason other than that I am a human being.  When I think of the mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, cousins, friends and lovers that are feeling the devastation first hand it takes my breath away.  When they woke up this morning and first heard the news, their lives were changed forever.

Today I am thankful for love.  I am beyond fortunate to have the amount of love I can call mine.  I am beyond fortunate that I can love in return.  I don’t know that I really want to understand hate.

Today I am thankful for love.
